3rd Grade Policies
Absences
Notes, Notes, Notes!! All absences need to have a documented note letting the office know why the student was absent. This isn't a change, just reinforcing the need. Until we get a note, the absence is Unexcused. Phone calls are not notes. TEA will not allow documentation to be campus generated. Parents can call, but they will be directed to send a note when the child returns or email the school. You can also email our person in charge of attendance, Nikki Thakkar at zthakkar@eanesisd.net.
Make-Up Work Policy
Work missed during an absence will be collected while your child is out and given to them upon their return. Students will have two days to complete make up work for each day of classroom instruction missed. For example, if your child is out on Monday, then the make up work would be due on Thursday. Work will not be given out prior to a student's absence, except in critical or exceptional times, on a case by case basis.
Grading Policy
Third grade is the first year that the students will receive numeric grades, as well as letter grades for each subject. In order to assure that students master curriculum and to foster an environment where authentic learning is valued, students will be able to make corrections on major tests that receive a grade lower than a 70. The corrections must be returned with a parent signature within a week of the original test. Corrections will allow students to receive a maximum grade of a 70. We strongly encourage parents to assist their child in understanding their errors and corrections at home. Report cards will be posted online every nine weeks, and the first one will be given to you at Parent/Teacher conferences (October 19, 20, 21.)
Third Grade Homework Policy
Your child will have homework on a regular basis in order to practice skills and to develop responsibility. Math homework will be given on a nightly basis in order to practice the daily skill from the math lesson. Language Arts (Reading/Writing) homework will be assigned twice weekly and needs to be turned in on Fridays. We also ask that our students are reading a good fit book each night at home. You should expect homework to take approximately 40 minutes (max) per night. If it is taking your child more than forty minutes per night, we need to find out the cause and come up with some solutions - it should not be a burden on either parent or child. Homework and a weekly “snapshot” of objectives that will be covered in class throughout the week will be posted on this site (under Weekly Objectives/Homework).
Birthday Recognition
Due to changing times, nutritional concerns/allergies, and past disruptions, birthday treats and celebrations are no longer allowed on the Bridge Point campus. We are hopeful that you will be able to find a time outside of the school day to help your child celebrate their special day. In addition, invitations of any kind will only be permitted for distribution at school if EVERYONE (all boys and all girls) in the class receives an invitation.
Snack Policy
Snack will be between 9:00 and 9:15 each day. Please make sure your child packs a HEALTHY snack. No candy, cookies or drinks other than water, will be permitted. Water bottles are allowed as long as they have a closed top.
